NEW, YOUNG GUNS FIRE US INTO THE NEXT ROUND

Much needed and long-awaited new talent enriched this performance as we beat Division Two high fliers Bovingdon to progress into the hat for the next round of the Challenge Cup.

Debutants Elijah Hearn at full back and forwards Leo Farruch and Godlove Oppong brought a progressive, go-forward approach to our play which has been lacking for much of the season. Admittedly it was against lower division opposition and the true test will be whether they can produce against step 5 teams but the signs were there that they are a talented threesome who could provide to be useful acquisitions.

We bossed most of the game, but were unable to turn our first half dominance into goals. There was a sense of the inevitability when goals from Jack Stevens and George Carberry settled the match midway through the second half.

Our disciplined and respectful approach on and around the pitch has been recognised by coming top of the divisions Respect Table. Our behaviour was in stark contrast to the Bovingdon bench who contrived to have two of their management team booked and one sent off! As well as one of their players sent off for two yellows, the second of which was a totally unnecessary, petulant act. Their play today could often be commended, their behaviour not.

And so we approach the Christmas / new year period with two tough games Leverstock Green and then Risborough. Cup victories a re nice boys but they dont do anything to our league position. Points are needed!!
