Spartan South Midlands Premier Division
Dunstable Town 3-0 TAFC First team
FROZEN OUT!

On a raw, bitterly cold day at Creasey Park, our performance failed to warm the cockles. Given that we lost 3-0 and our goalkeeper was our man of the match, it would appear to have been a torrid afternoon and it was.

David Saunders is a young, highly talented keeper, forgiven for an odd mistake as he matures into his craft. Today, he was magnificent, repelling wave upon wave of attacks. For those of us who like to see local talent developed, David is a former Tring school head boy and Dacorum Schools custodian.

We were unfortunate to lose Adam Sawyer after 20 minutes with a very nasty eyebrow injury as a result of a clash of heads. We lost our only natural left footer and it unbalanced our defence. We hope Adam is OK and recovers quickly.

At 0-0 at half time it was tempting to say we were in the game. In reality, with such a strong wind at our backs we needed to go in at the interval with a lead if we were to withstand the almost inevitable bombardment from a physically imposing opposition. With the elements in their favour Dunstable blew us away.

Looking at the league table, we are now in a group of four clubs which have become detached at the foot of the table. We have no league game now until after Christmas which is perhaps just as well as it presents the management team with the opportunity to take stock and effect the changes that are necessary to pull us away from the relegation zone.
