MATCH REPORT

DANS DELIGHTFUL DOUBLE DOWNS COLNEY

Dan Ferrigno is a lovely player to watch. He has a Zola-like touch of Italian class about the way he plays, true to his roots. Tonight was his night as his two goals helped to bring our record-breaking run of consecutive victories to eleven. His second goal was a demonstration of all that is good about his game. It was a lovely team goal, with sweet movement from back to front, but it was the coolness Dan showed with his finish which made it stand out. He took it past a defender and closed in on goal, shoot was the cry from the Tring faithful but no, Dan does it the hard way, rounding the keeper and slots it into the empty net.
In all honesty his first goal was a tad fortunate, well, more than a tad actually, as his cross sailed over the keepers head in to the top corner but they all count.
This was in fact a 2-0 thrashing as we could have easily scored five or more but for a superb display by the London Colney keeper. He saved well from Max in the first half and his second half display was magnificent, keeping out shots from Mulik, Phil, Dash. For good measure, Phil hit the woodwork twice. There was another outstanding save from George Brinkman, making a welcome return to the club. We know what a talent George is from his previous spell with club and he showed in his 30 minutes this evening that he has lost none of his ability to create and to probe for openings.
Goals win games of course, and our 40 goals in 11 league games tells its own tale and has helped to create an 8 point gap at the top. But keeping them out helps too and we have now played almost four and a half hours without conceding.
Just a shout for Connor Church. At the beginning of the season he was our fourth choice left back and has come in to the team mainly through injuries. He has given 8 out 10 performances every game and, even tonight, up against a tricky, speedy right winger he came out on top. Well done Connor, cut from the same mould as Sundy, Luke and Ben proving that there is a place in this squad for local talent.
On to The Vase now good luck boys!
