TAFC goals: Ollie Ruttle, Luke Cestrone, Clem Asante, Christopher Clark
Westfield Res (0)0 Tring Athletic Res (2)4 - Saturday 6th April 2019

Another near 100 mile journey, another win, another clean sheet, another Joe Naylor hat trick - well 3 put of 4 is not bad!!! In fact Joe Naylor was unavailable (on holiday) together with Will Foley (ill - amazing for him an away game !!!), Will Salmon working, Connor Blake- Charity Boxing, Connor Church recovering from an operation, Joel Nketia selected on Friday for Hemel Hempstead First team Gareth Terblanche forgetting his manners (unusual) and then Les Barkers-Obua misreading his alarm clock!!!

On paper this should have been a stiff task against a team 3rd in the table and who, had reached the League Cup Final.

But the players that stepped in were absolutely magnificent as were the not much older but more experienced players.

At right back Will Gibson won the fight with his blisters and their wide man and helped make the first goal, at left back Luke Cesterone belied his lack of Senior football to make consistent right decisions and chipped in with a goal, and hit the bar as well.

In midfield Harry Gutsell took on board lessons learnt at the Levy Green game to be outstanding in the defensive midfield alongside Chris Clark , who, remains unbeaten as Captain. Wide on the left Alex Holmes was effective both on and off the ball making at least one important tackle and just failing to score. In a team of outstanding performances he was arguably MOM.

Keeper Dave Saunders handled the odd cross really well and apart from one short period in the first half distributed well. Matt Stacey after a shaky start dominated at the back and make an athletic clearance off the goal line.

In the No 10 role Billie Busari ran Westfield ragged and is now adding tackling to his undoubtedly ability on the ball, at this level. He then occasionally failed to move the ball quickly enough choosing to make a personal battle of things - has to learn !!

On the right Prince Nimoh, who managed to change his work shift at short notice gave us excellent qualities again going forward and helping out off the ball. Up front Ollie Ruttle and Clem Asante were like bulldozers with boots and after 10 even minutes a superb cross from Ollie was nearly converted on the far post.

After 20 mins an accurate goal kick by Dave Saunders was held up by Clem Asante who drilled a pass into Billie Busari whose cross was tucked away by Ollie Ruttle. Score 0-1. Within 10 mins a Billie Busari free kick which bounced in front of the keeper was spilt and Luke Cesterone following in lashed it into the net. Score 0-2.

The Management team were delighted that what was largely a new team had reacted so well to the instructions on the game plan.

Les Barkers-Obua showed the level of commitment from this squad by leaving Hemel Hempstead knowing he would not be there till into the second half (many players wouldn't gave bothered), he was rewarded with the last 20 minutes when Luke Cesterone tired and he helped shore up, what was by now a 3 goal lead when Clem Asante ,who seems incapable of hitting a barn door with his feet can thread the ball through the eye of the needle with his head converted a well delivered Billie Busari corner. Score 0-3.

Hemel Hempstead FCs, Alvin Magmadada, replaced Ollie Ruttle on 65 minutes and harried Westfield into a couple of errors the first of which resulted in a shot and the second in making a goal for skipper Chris Clark from the edge of the area. Score 0-4. Tom Ainsworth as ever got the thin end of the wedge put took it with his usual good grace!! and as ever worked hard to keep another clean sheet (our 12th in 19 games) and try to improve the goal difference further.
Team: D. Saunders, W. Gibson, M. Stacey, L .Cesterone (L. Barkers-Obua), P. Nimoh (T. Ainsworth), C. Clark, H. Gutsell, B. Busari, A. Holmes. O. Ruttle (A-Magmadada), C. Asante.
