Herts FA County Junior Cup - Semi Final

Tring Athletic A' entertained Mill Lane (East Herts) for a chance to reach the County Final for the second year running, on a day better suited to flying a kite.

With the pitch far from perfect, the game was never going to be a classic.

Tring started up the slope, against the gale and were very happy to end a scrappy half at 0-0.

Both sides were giving their all but Mill Lane scored from a corner midway through the second-half, when the ball somehow bypassed the front post markers and was knocked in by the Mill Lane centre back. Score 0-1.

Tring then threw everything at Mill Lane with the wind assisting and finally, in the 85th minute, a corner was misjudged by the Mill Lane Keeper and the ball just went over the line direct from Liam Irons' corner. Score 1-1.

Both sides had chances to win the game in Extra Time but it ended 1-1 and almost inevitably, it went to penalties.

Tring held their nerve better and it was left to Martyn Travers to calmly finish the last penalty, to win 4-3 and to take Tring to the Final.

The game was played in a very good spirit and either side could have won on the day.
