Dunstable Town 0-2 TAFC Reserve team
TAFC goals: Ollie Ruttle, Will Salmon
The Ressies continued their recent good run of 1 defeat in 9 games and 5 clean sheets in the last 6 games.
On a superb surface and against physical opposition we started brightly and after 3 mins a Ollie Ruttle rocket from a Billi Busari pass gave us the lead.
With Prince Nimoh causing havoc down our right hand side and Joe Naylor on the left this allowed Ollie Ruttle and Clem Asante to worry the Dunstable Town defence on many occasions . In midfield Billi Busari prompted attack after attack with Connor Blake and Will Salmon superb in holding midfield positions. The back 3 of Matt Stacey,Les Barkers-Barkers Obua and Gareth Terblanche dealt with whatever they had to deal with and keeper David Saunders did what little he had to do efficiently.
On 11 mins one of a series of corners delivered by Billi Busari was headed powerfully in at the far post by Will Salmon. We had already failed to extend the lead from a previous corner when Les Barkers- Obua should have scored.
We kept a good standard of play with pacy passes and intelligent movement constantly putting Dunstable Town on the back foot.
The half time interval was used to remind the players that our opponents would have to change their shape in order to get back in the game.
Although they pushed us further back we looked quite comfortable for 20 mins before the energy levels of a couple of players dropped off and Dunstable had 2 good chances ,one from a corner and the second caused by one of several poor decisions when we should have managed the game better.
Joe Naylor fired narrowly wide and sub Alex Holmes played his part up front and despite giving away a couple of silly free kicks we confirmed our place at the top of this group.
