Beaconsfield Town Youth 2-0 TAFC U18 Youth Team Red
Match Report:
Beaconsfield Town Youth 2 Tring Athletic Reds 0
Disappointing but lots to be encouraged by.
Very even start to the game, with both teams trying to play football in some very difficult conditions. Beaconsfield had a very strong defense that sat deep, denied us space and limited our chances, this gave them a very solid platform to push forward. Without being under too much pressure we went behind in the 17th minute after we gave the ball away cheaply in midfield. The remained of the half was mostly even - we had a couple of chances that we failed to convert, Dylan cutting in from the left to miss narrowly was probably the best of the bunch.

The 2nd half followed the same pattern as the first, lots of play in a congested midfield, with few chances for either side. As the half wore on, Beaconsfield started to build some pressure and were rewarded with a 2nd goal in the 67th minute. After this, we continued to fight hard, with both Alex and Harrison coming close in the final few minutes. Sadly we weren't unable to break them down and Beaconsfield ran our 2-0 winners.

At the end I explained to the boys that I was disappointed with the result, with a bit more energy and some better decision making with the ball, it could have been a very different result. However, we must be encouraged by the last 2 games - any doubts about whether we are able to complete in Division One, whether we'll struggle at this age group need to be set aside. We have shown last week, and today that we're more than capable of matching the teams in this league, so we'll look forward with confidence to the next games. Thanks to Harry for taking the gloves this morning, and a shout out to Josh, Harrison and Alex (with his man-flu), who were all excellent today.
