Tring Ath.Res belatedly opened their 2017/18 season with an ultimately convincing win over a big strong London Colney team who had been promoted after convincingly winning last seasons Central Division with one defeat and incidentally a Cup double over ourselves. This also equalled our best run in the Premier Division with 4 straight wins.

The team included 8 new faces and it showed the hard work done in pre season that they managed to produce a disciplined and cohesive performance. The first 20 mins were even although we arguably created the better chances. Jack Sunderland who had created and missed a good chance in the first minute ,chased down a pass to force an error from their defence and Joe Naylor opened his seasons account.

We then limited London Colney to half chances but worryingly only had a narrow 1-0 lead at half time. Playing down the slope we slowly pushed our opponents back and following good work by Josh Hart ,Liam Irons finished neatly. We saw the game out and kept a clean sheet.

It would be wrong to pick out any individuals as the whole squad more than contributed to a good start to the new campaign.
