After the Lord Mayors Show!!!

Having started quite brightly we should arguably have had at least one penalty saw their keeper make a couple of good saves then after 26 mins a couple of poor decisions in midfield saw Bovingdon break quickly and a neat finish saw them take the lead.

For the rest of the half and indeed the rest of the game we slowly but surely deteriorated. Too many instances of first and second balls not being won , poor decisions,lack of communication and a general malaise in the play saw a hardworking, decent Bovingdon team go through.

We changed to 3-5-2 for the second period down the slope and for 15 mins at least we pushed our opponents onto the back foot but a series of corners and attacks came to nothing.
The turning point came when their keeper was allowed to make an acrobatic save from a chance which should have been despatched. In the next minute Bovingdon doubled their lead when a defensive error allowed a one on one which unlike ours was neatly finished.

Again we changed shape and 5 up front but missed 2 good chances before yet another instance of a defender dallying on the ball allowed a great cross to be headed in on the far post.

To say this was a disappointing performance is an understatement and hopefully some of the lessons will be learnt before our season subsides.

On Tuesday there will need to be a massive response when we face Hellenic Premier Homer Green in the Wycombe Senior Cup .
