Premier Division Cup
Cockfosters 0-2 TAFC First team

TAFC goals: Kyle Johnson (2)
WE BOOK OUR PLACE IN SEMI-FINAL

Athletic take the honours in this league cup quarter final with a goal in each half by striker Kyle Johnson. They now look forward to an away semi-final match against either Biggleswade FC or London Tigers.

Athletic started the better of the two sides and created a number of opportunities, they looked to have had a good penalty appeal turned down in the 17th minute when Elliott Goward was pulled down.

Cockfosters weathered this early pressure and in the 23rd minute created a good chance when Harley Haag headed over the bar. Following an Athletic corner the ball was fed to Tommy Twelves and from the edge of the area his shot was blocked, the loose ball fell to Jack Read but his attempt was just off target.

In the 32nd minute Athletic broke forward quickly, the ball was played out wide to Billie Busari who ran forward before putting in a low cross into the area and finding Kyle Johnson at the back post to score.

Just 3 minutes later Cockfosters nearly equalised when Harley Haag cleverley beat several defenders but the chance was somehow missed resulting in a corner. In stoppage time Athletics keeper Patrick Sinfield was called upon to save easily from striker Harley Haag.

Half time: Cockfosters. 0 TAFC 1

The start of the second half saw Chris Mason coming on for the injured Connor Church. The half began very much as first half did with Athletic on the offensive, with Kieron Turner shooting over the bar from a tight angle then a header going wide from an excellent cross by Elliott Goward.

Following a cross from Kieron Turner striker Kyle Johnson headed just wide in the 51st minute. Two minutes later a terrific run by Kieron Turner saw his shot bound off the post. Cockfosters striker Harley Haag was clearly a dangerous opponent, nearly every time he had the ball he was able to take on and beat defenders. In the 59th minute he did just that but luckily for Athletic his shot from a tight angle could only run across the face of the goal.

At this period in the game play was fairly even, both sides were endeavouring to create chances but it was Athletic who managed to turn one of those chances into a goal. There was good interplay involving Alex Campana and Kieron Turner, before a clever pass found the totally unmarked Kyle Johnson who calmly shot past home keeper Adam Seymour.

The final minutes saw the home side pushing forward, with a number of shots from outside of the penalty area none of which required keeper Patrick Sinfield to save.
