TAFC First team 1-1 Edgware Town

TAFC goals: Jack Read
Goal scorers: Tring Athletic Jack Read 27. Edgware Town Steven Benavides 34

This was Athletics fourth game in a week in which they have won one and drawn the remaining three. They now have only two league games left, both away, and a St Marys cup semi-final against local rivals Berkhamsted, which is also away.

The early stages of the game was all stop/start with both sides conceding free kicks in the middle of the pitch. Conditions were difficult, the pitch was hard with the ball bouncing higher than usual at times. Athletic were the first to create a chance, Chris Vardy rattling the crossbar from around 30 yards out. Athletic picked up another injury with the impressive Jack Sunderland having to go off with a nasty ankle injury, Jack Read coming on to replace him in the 25th minute. Just 2 minutes later, and with his first touch, Jack Read opened the scoring following a pinpoint cross by George Carbery.

Athletic's lead was not to last long as Edgware equalised through Steven Benavides in the 34th minute following a lack of concentration. Athletic came straight back, the ball was played into the area finding Jack Read whose point blank shot was somehow kept out by visiting keeper Greg Marh. Athletic finished the half in the ascendancy without reward.

Half time: TAFC 1- 1 Edgware Town

With Athletic kicking down the slope expectations were high, however it was Edgware who had the better of the early exchanges.

In the 66th minute Jack Read collected the ball, cut inside but his shot just whistled past the post. Athletics Max Hercules then had a shot which looked destined for the back of the net but was charged down. Neither side were dominating play with few chances being created. A number of substitutions took place.

Towards the end of the game Athletics Max Hercules went close from a free kick and Edgware also had two chances from free kicks without troubling keeper Lewis Todd. With the 90 minutes up Edgware's bustling number 9 Onololu Onabolu had a shot which was well saved by Lewis Todd and a minute later Athletics Jack Read looked sure to score but his shot from a tight angle was saved.
