This was our first game this season at The Grass Roots Stadium and for 7 of the squad their first game on our main pitch. We started brightly playing from the back and took the lead within 10 mins when a soft Tom Shaw shot squirmed through the keepers hands. Whether that sent the wrong message is hard to say but for the rest of the half we were poor. Chalfont had us consistently on the back foot and several players looked they were running through treacle. Only resolute defending and a couple of missed half chances kept us in the game.

The early signs in the second half were not good but somehow from nowhere playing down the slope we manufactured a second goal with a toe poke from John Smith.

This knocked the stuffing out of our opponents and using all 16 players the floodgates opened including an absolute picture of a 4th goal with excellent passing and moving with an Ollie Ruttle hat trick ,Gareth Terrablanche, Liam Bushay and a second from John Smith before James Caitlin made a good save from a penalty and Chalfont scored in the 84th minute.

I'd like to thank the lads who played for the A team to get match fitness but have to wa the squad that if we don't sharpen up our individual and collective game we are in for a shock when the League programme starts
