Old Boys on Tour (posted Mon 17th Oct 2016)
Tring Athletic Old Boys 4 Belgium 3

Tring Old Boys produced an astonishing victory over a young Belgium side on their International Beach Football debut at the weekend.
With Dave Stacey and Mark Allum taking the sensible optionof returning to the bar, Tring fielded a strong line up of Phillips, Foskett D, Foskett N, Butler, Ranger, Casserley and Johnson. The game ebbed and flowed with the vast majority of spectators cheering on the Belgians. Dave Foskett, Ian Butler and Steve Johnson notched for Athletic but 3 were conceded at the other end too with Colin Phillips having a Gary Sprake moment at his near post.
It was anyone's game - 3 "goals" from Belgium were controversially ruled out for a variety of spurious reasons as Tring tired from the effects of having spent4 hours in the bar before the match. In typical England fashion - Tring went Route One with the insipid Phil Casserley bypassed in midfield in preference for a big pump upto Trings very own Bob Latchford - Steve Johnson. The idea was for Johnson to knock it down to the anonymous Ian Ranger but a spectacular overhead kick was opted for on one occasion - to the amusement of onlookers.
Tring were defending heroically with Foskett, Phillips and Butler tackling tenaciously and the win was sealed late on when on form Ian Butler smashed home a trademark long range effort. Although the game was originally agreed to be first to 5 - Tring decided enough was enough at 4-3 and promptly ended the game.

Keith Hamilton to become Life Vice President (posted Mon 3rd Oct 2016)
At the Annual General Meeting our Treasurer, Keith Hamilton, presented the Annual Accounts before stepping down as Treasurer due to his recent ill health. Keith has undertaken this role for the last 7 years, an important time in the Club's development, and his help and guidance has been very much appreciated. A small award was made to Keith at the AGM and he was invited to become a Life Vice President of the Club.
Veterans Victory (posted Sun 2nd Oct 2016)
Our Vets team being run by Colin Phillips had a rare match today in the County Cup and travelled to Bishops Stortford and a clean sheet for goal keeping Coach Gary Looker meant that we weren't going to lose. Colin's match report wording says that they "romped" to a 3-0 win with a fine free kick from our "A" Team Manager, Ian Butler, and 2 goals from Raymond Thomas gave us victory. Miss of the season however came from this month's 100 Club Winner, Liam Ahern, from 1 yard out!
